Percussion Workshop Description

 

 

Purpose: To instill, build, and promote strong fundamentals, discipline, integrity, and musicianship in percussion performance

 

Equipment Needed: All participants must bring their own percussion equipment and drum pads (notebooks and pencils will be provided).

 

Targeted Group: Student Percussionists, Percussion Instructors, and Band Directors

 

Maximum Number of Participants: 80 (Including participating Percussion Instructors and Band Directors)

 

Evaluation for Participation: Prior to workshop sessions beginning, all participants will be evaluated by workshop instructors on skill level and grouped accordingly (4 groups).

 

Workshop Instruction

 

Fundamentals: Reading, Technique, Interpretation, Profile, Dynamics, etc.

Techniques in Marching and Auxiliary Percussion

Drum Tuning

 

*Workshop sessions will take place in a classroom setting as well as in a setting for application of what is taught.

 

*In order for participants to truly grow in regards to the techniques/skills they will be taught, reinforcement will need to take place following the percussion workshop.
