BATON

Tenisha King-Weston

Tenisha King-Weston is a native of Suffolk, VA. She was the “first” majorette captain of the Nansemond River Marching Warriors from 1990-1992. She has served as the Majorette Coordinator of the award-winning King’s Fork High School “Golden Silhouette” Majorette Squad for the past five years. Ms. Weston has been an instructor with the “Essence of Twirling and Dance” Workshops for the past five years. 

Martesha Weston

Martesha Weston is a native of Suffolk, Virginia. She began her twirling experience as a majorette at Nansemond River High School while attending middle school. Her high school twirling experience included being Captain of the “Golden Silhouette” Majorette Squad at King’s Fork High School under the leadership of Ms. Tenisha Weston, Majorette Coach. Martesha is very gifted twirler and strong leader. She has continued her experience as a “feature twirler” for the  Virginia State University Marching “Trojan Explosion” Band while majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Sharai Thomas

Sharai Thomas is a native of Suffolk, VA. She began her twirling experience at Lakeland High School in Suffolk, VA as a “Dazzling Sapphire” Majorette under the leadership of Ms. Chanel Bryant, former Majorette Coach. As a member of the “Dazzling Sapphires”, Sharai had the opportunity to celebrate two consecutive “undefeated” competition seasons in 2012-13 and 2013-14, serving as Captain her senior year. Sharai is a graduate of Lakeland High School and a student at Radford University, majoring in Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. She currently serves a workshop instructor.

 

Breanna Bivins
Nicholette "Nikki" Amburgey

Nicholette “Nikki” Amburgey is a native of Newport News.  She began her twirling career at age 5 under the instruction of Shelvy Manning. Nikki is an 18-year member of Shelvy's Superstars twirling team, and is a former competitive twirler. Nikki has held many state, regional and national titles including 2005 and 2006 Miss Mid Atlantic Princess, 2007 Intermediate Miss Majorette of Virginia and 2008 Advanced Senior Miss Majorette of Virginia. Nikki was also the 2009 College Miss Majorette of Virginia. Nikki was the Feature Twirler at Menchville High School for four years, and participated in the 2009 and 2012 New Years Day Parade and Festival in London, England. In April 2009 Nikki traveled to Ghent, Belgium to compete in the National Baton Twirling Association’s World Baton Twirling Championships. She was a guest member of the Team Virgin Islands World Twirling Team and the Sebastian Majorettes under the direction of Senator Shawn Malone. Nikki was the Feature Twirler at Christopher Newport University as an undergraduate from 2009-2012. She holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from CNU. Nikki has been an instructor with the "Essence of Twirling and Dance” Workshops for the past five years. 

Breyahna King

Breyahna King is a native of Richmond, VA.  She began her twirling experience in high school as a member of the award-winning “Dazzling Sapphire” Majorettes of the Lakeland High School Marching “Quiet Storm” Band under the leadership of Ms. Chanel Bryant, former Majorette Coach. Breyahna has always been a gifted twirler and very creative in her craft. She is currently a “feature twirler” as a member of the Virginia State University Marching “Trojan Explosion” Band and a psychology major.

 

 Javene Robertson

Javene Robertson is a native of Norfolk, VA. She began her twirling experience at Lakeland High School in Suffolk, VA as a “Dazzling Sapphire” Majorette under the leadership of Ms. Chanel Bryant, former Majorette Coach. Javene served at Co-Captain for two years and helped to lead the “Dazzling Sapphires” to two consecutive “undefeated” competition seasons in 2012-13 and 2013-14. Javene is a graduate of Lakeland High School and a student at Norfolk State University, majoring in Pre-professional Biology. She currently serves a workshop instructor.

 

 

 

Breanna Bivins is a native of Suffolk, VA. She is an “original” member of the award-winning “Dazzling Sapphire” Majorettes of the Lakeland High School Marching “Quiet Storm”. Breanna served as Captain for two years, graduating from Lakeland High School in 2010. She currently serves in the United States Air Force.
